Dear Friends,
Last month I marked my 40th year at Oak Crest. To celebrate the occasion a small reception was held in our delightful Cellar Pub. (one of my favorite places)
At the end of a Wednesday I really didn't expect much of a turnout, to my surprise there was!
New faces and old friends greeted me warmly and asked questions like "does it seem like 40 years?" and "are you retiring?", "How did you start" and that is a "lifetime" and how did you do it.
Well it was fun having two solid hours of "me" time and it certainly sparked some reflection on my part.  So here it is I started early in my life and loved it. Yes, I stayed and I loved it and no I am not retiring and I still love it. And I did it one day at a time, with no grand plan for tenure or milestones, just doing a job and loving it.
Finally to all the wonderful calls form old friends who couldn't make it and the beautiful flowers and cards, your well wishes have been a cherry on top of a wonderful life here at Oak Crest. And maybe that is just how I did it with thoughtful people supporting me in my work for 40 years.
Thank you
Susan Cincinelli

Happy Holidays

Happy Hoidays from Oak Crest....
our halls are decked out with beauty and grace,
our members have smiles all over the place.
Visitors come and sing songs to us,
bring us good wishes and tasty treats.
The sadness that sometimes comes over us all
as we recall the lost past was completely replaced.
Our new happy is the celebration of now. It's time to
be here and that is  better than wishing for the past.
Each new day brings new ways to celebrate what is.
It is our turn now to say thank you for all that your
kindness and favors have meant this holiday season
and every day of the year. From all of our hearts...
We wish you a Happy New Year!

We Promise:

Caring
Keeping
Trusting

November is

Staff Appreciation Month

at Oak Crest.

24/7 our staff works tirelessly to care for our members.
Not easy work, requiring dedication and patience. For that reason we set aside an entire month to honor the efforts of the past year. Here are some of the ways in which we acknowledge those who work at Oak Crest & Atrium Apartments:
  • every staff person is given top billing on our main sign for all the world to see.
  • a turnaround dinner has volunteers and administration serving staff a special dinner to show appreciation.
  • every staff person gets gifts.
  • everyday staff is thanked for choosing to work at Oak Crest.
  • We invite you to stop by and add your special touch to our month long celebration of thanks for our special caring staff.

The 108th Anniversary Celebration of Oak Crest's founding was highlighted with the dedication of the Campbell Center, the new heart of Oak Crest Residence. Created specifically for memory care, the Campbell Center was named to honor benefactors Marion and Sandy Campbell's mom, Martha. Former member of Oak Crest "Marty" was fondly remembered by Executive Director Susan Cincinelli during the ceremony. Mayor Kaptain of Elgin was on hand to proclaim Sat. Sept.22,2012 Oak Crest Campbell Center Day in Elgin.

The Cheese Stands Alone...

Our Cellar Pub has hosted two special birthday parties the past two Saturdays, one for a lovely lady celebrating her 60th and the other a surprise party for a man celebrating his 50th.

Two things:

  1. We love to rent the Pub for these types of special occasions, we do everything. Food, music, decorations whatever you want or need. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the value is unsurpassed. Call us to learn more about the Oak Crest Cellar Pub as an alternative for your next special event.

  2. Our Chef JP is celebrating his 10th anniversary at Oak Crest. Unless you have tasted our delicious food you cannot possibly realize what great cause for celebration that is. We invite you to join us the third Monday of every month for the Oak Crest Community Dinner at 6pm for a sample of why we Celebrate Chef's anniversay. Thanks for the many food memories Chef!

Oak Crest Renewal Project

From time to time we all need to be renewed and Oak Crest of Elgin now proudly celebrating 107 years of continuous service in our commumity is launching a major renovation program.

announcing the "Renewal Project"...

We are renewing our commitment to the community and our members with plans to add even more.

We will experience a renewal of the charm that has made Oak Crest a warm and welcoming place to live for 107 years. New amemity bathrooms and spas, new theatre and dining venues, new arts center ,new decor with the same trusted staff and values that have always set Oak Crest's standards above the rest.

As we rejunenate our surroundings we will re-energize our menus. Chef JP will be working from a new state of the art kitchen creating the dishes you ask for. His famous BBQ ribs, mouth watering grilled flank steak and savory baked French onion soup to name just a few.

Our new theatre will be the center of attention as we explore new films and new worlds of culture and entertainment. Across the hall the arts center will be alive with creation. a universe onto itself this dynamic center will host guest artists who share how they translate the ordinary into the extraordinay and you are invited to be part of the miracle.

The energy, the excitement, the honest caring and the daily reminder that life is wonderful if you share it with friends all come together here at Oak Crest in Elgin. Our plans for renewal are in full swing , and now all we need is you. Plan to be part of our secrest receipe for a well lived life.
